Here’s a short blog that addresses a common question we receive regarding the waterproof rating of our ultralight tents, tarps and shelters. As you know, many of our products from Liteway utilize Levitex 20D ripstop silpoly, which has a hydrostatic head rating of 2000mm.
A 2000mm hydrostatic head rating signifies the fabric’s ability to withstand a 2000mm column of water pressing down on it over a 24-hour period before any water penetrates the fabric. To provide some New Zealand backcountry context, stats record that the highest recorded rainfall in New Zealand within a 24-hour period was 566mm recorded in Fiordland. That means that our tent fabric offers almost four times that level of water resistance. You can feel confident in the 2000mm hydrostatic head rating of our tents, knowing they are well and truly waterproof in whatever conditions you find yourself in, in the backcountry wilderness of New Zealand.
Pursue the wilderness backcountry that New Zealand has to offer guys, whatever it is that you do, hunting, hiking, tramping or camping we really believe that our products will suit your ultralight backpacking needs right here in New Zealand. We hope this short blog answers your questions about the hydrostatic rating of our ultralight tents and shelter.
